Get ready for the next solar eclipse!

Next month is eclipse month and the Soutpansberg Astronomy Club will be at Ridgeway College on 1 September, providing a live feed as well as the opportunity to view the eclipse safely with a telescope.

Eclipse times for Louis Trichardt are 09:26 to 12:45 local time, with the eclipse at 48% maximum at 11:03. The partial eclipse of the sun on that day is the only solar eclipse visible from southern Africa this year, and this rare event is a wonderful opportunity to witness the solar system in action, as the moon glides in front of the sun.
