New hot CD for Adziambei band

The recent incidents of the digging up and theft of human body parts from graves that happened in Tshitavha Tsha-Sambandou and Folovhodwe have prompted the legendary Tshivenda traditional music band, Adziambei band, to release a new CD.

Matula Volume 15 was released in December.

The bass guitar and keyboard player, Samuel Mabuda, said the band had looked at what was happening nowadays, especially the unusual digging and stealing of human body parts and compared it with what the Bible had said that, when the earth would have vanished, unusual things would happen.

The new CD comprises 10 tracks, with Matula, Tshiwayawaya, Ngondongondo, Mbulungano, Thaidzo, Thelede and Hugevhenga among the titles.

On the track Matula, they praise King Toni Mphephu-Ramabula for taking a leading role in teaching the communities to refrain from killing people and taking body parts for muti purposes

Adziambei band was the 2012 winner of a Tshivenda Music Award, with the song of the year Nwana o ngala ngala.

The four members of the band are Elias “Maele” Sirwali, Samuel Mabuda, Johannes Kwinda and Sarah Masindi and they also compose their own songs.

Adziambei band was founded in 1982 by Sirwali at the rural mountain village of Guyuni outside Mutale. He was later joined by his late elder brother, Tshivhangwaho Raedani as well as Johannes Kwinda and Sarah Masindi and they released their first album in 1983.

The new CD was recorded at Winman Studio near Sibasa, produced by Elias Sirwali, mixed and mastered by Emmanuel Mamphogoro.
