Blaqsoul of the hip hop dance hall

A hip hop dance hall artist, Blaqsoul, has just released his second mix-tape, aptly entitled Tshamato, which boasts eight tracks.

A resident of Madodonga village, Blaqsoul is not your average singer, but an accomplished musician who plays lead guitar and piano. He received his guitar and piano lessons under the tutelage of the reggae maestro Jacky Nethomboni when he was a pupil at Nngweni Secondary School at Biaba in Nzhelele.

“He would use his free time to offer me music lessons,” he said. “I am really indebted to him as a singer and musician who knows and understands that music is the essence of life. Music fosters a sense of unity and peace among people.”

Blaqsoul believes that music should contain the kind of quality that makes it stand the test of the time. In his view, an artist should not just record and release a song that only sounds good to the listeners' ears for a few days and then starts to become boring.

“I had entitled this album Tshamato, which means that my fans had only to keep their eyes open and see me release this new mix-tape,” he said. “They wanted new music from me. Even though the pressure to release a mix-tape was too much, I couldn't succumb to it because I wanted to master the songs to make sure that I produced and released quality music.”

He had previously worked with Batondy, Tebza, RasLyba and Cindy C, where they were using the recording services of 2 Blessed Records, which is situated at Madodonga village. “I would also like to express my appreciation for the kind of help and support which I got from people like Prince Manenzhe, Khathu Tshikota, and Mulata Branded Lifestyle,” he said. “This only shows that we all need support of some kind when we are starting out in our careers.”

Blaqsoul is not new to the music industry; his début mix-tape came out in 2010, entitled Blaqsoul, comprising six tracks, with the hit track entitled Kasi.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province.
