Tshepo and Mizo join forces to produce new hip hop album

The collaboration between Tshepo Manyisa and Mizo Phyll with Skhumba de DJ gave birth to a hip hop anthem, U khou Itani, which was released to the public recently.

“U khou itani is set to bang in your clubs and also to top the charts on your radio stations,” said Manyisa, who has been promoting other artists’ music for over a decade. “The video is set to be out between July and August, and we are surely striving for quality set-up, sounds and pictures.”

Tshepo Manyisa, the co-founder, was born in Alexandra township and grew up in Shayandima in the Thohoyandou area. “I started dancing in 2001 and only discovered my singing talent in 2008, using the media of the Tshivenda and isiZulu languages to convey my messages,” he said.

Manyisa's passion for music started at a very young age and eventually led him to Johannesburg, where he opened up a music stable, Manyisa Records, which manages artists, hosts shows, provides music and dance services. Manyisa Records has previously worked with big names in the music industry such as Biblos, Biafra, Skhokho, Kalawa Jazmee, Bundu, Gun Man, Guluva Intertainment, Alcapom and CK.

He now also hosts annual festive-season festivals in Limpopo, and one of his biggest events is called the Shayas Maboneni Music Festival, which boasts an attendance of 10 000 annually.

Mizo Phyll needs no introduction in the VenRap genre, as he was regarded “king” of the genre by many music lovers, who respected him for his skilful belting of rhymes. He is also the founder of the annual festival called Venda nga December.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper.
