Sollie drops another hit single

A resident of Maebane village in the Kutama area, Sollie Musapha, has dropped another single, entitled Lufuno, after blazing the top of the charts with his anthemic single Tshibvuvhelo tsha Malume last year.

“I am the pride of my fans, village and country,” he said. “While the song's lyrics and fundamental beats are not all new, I had experimented with rhythms, beats and sounds when I redid Prince Nyadzawela's Lufuno, giving it a new and vibey feel.”

Sollie entered the music industry with a bang with his single Tshibvuvhelo tsha Malume, which dominated local music stations' line-ups because of its authenticity. Tshibvuvhelo, or mvuvhelo, depending on the Tshivenda dialect in use in a particular area, is a traditional bowl.

With Lufuno, he wanted people to get touched by both the lyrics and the sounds, so that they could also respond in a constructive manner. “The music should either uplift you or inspire you,” he said. “We create good music to soothe people's hearts and also to entertain.”

He stated that he had known from an early age that he would one day make good music. “I always knew I could sing, even before I could go to church where I finally learned the basics of music,” he said.

The song is on high rotation at radio stations nationally. This artist believes that education is the key to success and he had studied biochemistry at the University of Venda. He had worked for the University of Johannesburg as a research project facilitator. .

He is one artists who aims to put Venda on the map through his music. He gets inspiration from his mother, Ms Hildah Musapha. “If we continue to love and respect our mothers for the sacrifices they make for us, and for caring for us, we'll know the taste of success,” he said.
