Phuluso Thenga wins two awards

The first Limpopo Gospel Music Awards was a night full of glitz, glam and a lot of celebration when the gospel singers ascended the stage to receive awards.

The event took place at the Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane on Saturday evening and the winner of each category went home with R10 000 and a trophy.

One of the organizers, Mr Augustine Nethononda, said that they had decided to organise the event to recognise local talent and to mould raw talent to deliver the best gospel work. He called on gospel music creators to rally behind the initiative, highlighting that it should be a legacy that must be preserved for future generations.

“We are delighted about the awards and the positive reaction and we are sure that the event will serve as a game changer by encouraging more artists to produce good gospel music. Above all, we are just excited to see our province flourish and all our artists be appreciated.”

Local artist Phuluso Thenga won two awards during the ceremony. “I thank everyone who supported me through my musical journey. I am made by my fans and I appreciate the love that I have received over the years.”

The other winners are: The best newcomers:  Mmatema; best Amazon traditional gospel artist: Isaac Mbedzhiji; best gospel praise song: Secret of Worship; best gospel worship song: Kagogelo Kekana; best male artist: Pastor Rudolph Mabasa; best female artist: Mmatema; best colaboration song: Thabelo Netshiunda; best album of the year: Phuluso Thenga; best song: Newie; and artist of the year: Phuluso Thenga.
