Mak Dee the Vocalist belts out wonderful verses

Mak Dee the Vocalist's talent as a singer lies in his amazing voice, which has had many producers and music promoters calling him with great offers, but he has had to be calculated and focus on his best interests as a singer.

“I may have a great and unique voice, but that is not enough in the music industry – one has to write new songs, find a style of their own and maximise on that, and that's exactly what I have been doing as an artist,” he said.

A resident of Mulelu village, who was born Avhakholwi Edwin Mavhungu, Mak Dee the Vocalist is a hip-hop, Afro-pop, house and dance-hall singer.

“I discovered my talent when I was at school, and this was after my teacher had heard me many times singing a song Dorah by Adziambei Band,” he said. “I was so good in rendering that song that my teacher encouraged me to join the school choir.”

He met the talented producer, Fusco Bell, who helped him record his debut single, entitled This is my dream, on which he featured Young Face and King Mart. “It was a house song that became very popular with the people out there, and it introduced me to music lovers,” he said.

He cemented his name in the music industry with more songs which, among others, include Ndi A Mufuna, Lwo Fhela, She Stole My Heart, Gal You're Mine, Do You Remember, Hello, Kha Fholise Mbilu, and A Sorry Mama. “I sing from the heart and that's one reason why people love my music,” he said. “It's the kind of music that unites people while catering for their entertainment appetite.”

He has shared the stage with prominent artists such as Colbert Mukwevho, Jininka, Dr Mario, Proheed, Zozo and Sengere Super Beat, and Malume Shinabya.

Mak Dee the Vocalist is available on Facebook and can be phoned on 079 598 8487.
