Tsiko Mal's heart beats sweet lyrics

Tsiko Mal's rise to stardom in the gospel music fraternity some years ago had come after much hard work as he had to spend years and years honing his singing skills.

A child of Makonde village, Tsiko Mal grew up in the church as he is from a Christian family, and he was surrounded by music for most of his earlier years. “My love for music finds its roots in my family,” he said. “Singing at church had been my passion, until I became a recording gospel artist.”

He then started singing seriously in 2003 in the Apostolic Church under Pastor AF Manyatshe, his uncle. “That's where I began to sing with others in the team of worship after singing and filling items from the Sunday school choir,” he said.

He regards music as a communication instrument that conveys a message that can even go to places one has never reached. “So, as a gospel musician I am preaching Christ through music and bringing good news to the poor, sending hope to the nations and reviving the broken-hearted,” he said. “My music is about a declaration of things to come in faith, thanking God for the things that He has done, reminding people of their identities, which restores peace with gentleness in them, and to worship our Creator.”

He expressed appreciation for the mentoring he received from Minister Kaizer Tshifura from the Christ Worship Centre. “Minister Tshifura is my music coach and life coach,” he said. “What I love about him is the experience and wisdom concerning the life of a musician. Another person who inspires me even more is Takie Ndou because of the good works he is doing in the gospel music industry.”

Tsiko Mal's musical highlights include his appearances in the Phalaphala FM Royal Gospel Festival alongside great names in the gospel fraternity, and the VENPRAISE Festival.

“I've also enjoyed being featured in many projects such as Palesa Ravele’s live recording, Voice Tsilatsila’s live recording and more studio projects,” he said. “I have also sung in many concerts all over South Africa, including Gauteng and Cape Town.”

His greatest hit of all time is Follow Me, which has made waves and is being sung in many churches. Other songs are Vhutshilo hanga ndi tsumbo ya uri vho luga, and Hu tshe na fulufhelo. The title of his album is Goodness and Mercy.

Tsiko Mal is available on most social media platforms and those interested in his music can call 071 623 4297.
