The thorny road to success

Local author Adziambei Milton Mathoma has published his second book, The thorny road to success.

"This book is all about encouraging people to be the best of themselves. It seeks to correct all the wrong mindsets that hinder growth of many in life. Through the pages of this book, the readers will be encouraged to face those challenges head-on, and use them as stepping stones for their desired destiny," said the 51-year-old resident of Muledane.

The author has seen many people failing in life because they tried so hard to please others and forgot to work more on achieving their dreams. "The desire to please other people while neglecting your dreams is like a chronic disease that kills passion," he said.

Through this book, he wants to encourage and change the mindset of people coming from less privileged backgrounds. "I want people to know that being successful does not depend on material things, but depends on the dream or the vision," he said. "Walk this journey, keeping in mind that you are the only one who fully understands the dream. Do not look at the world for any permission because no one has ever been where you are going. You are the only person who must tell the world all about once you reach it."

He said: "This book will help you to choose the road not taken by many as many of us are controlled by majority of decisions. It will pave your thorny road to success and make the impossible possible."

Mbulaheni Ridovhona

The 22-year-old Mbulaheni (Gary) Ridovhona has been passionate about journalism to the extent that he would buy himself a copy of weekly Univen students' newsletter, Our Voice. After reading, he would write stories about his rural village, Mamvuka, and submit them to the very newsletter for publication. His deep-rooted love for words and writing saw him register for a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies at the University of Venda, and joined the Limpopo Mirror team in February 2016 as a journalism intern.
