Listen to The Dub Master

Steve Netshishivhe, also known as The Dub Master, is a reggae artist focusing on dub music and he has so far earned himself respect among reggae music lovers in Africa.

The Dub Master had released his debut full-length reggae album, I ya konda, in 2011, followed by Only Him can Save Us (2015), I Dub What I Like (2016), and Deep Roots of Dub (2017). All those albums comprised songs that all resonated with root sounds and rhythms of African and Jamaican descent.

“Dub is my life – I dub what I like,” he said. “I create the kind of music which many people enjoy and even beg for more. It’s quality music which you can listen to many times without getting bored. I last released a full-length album in 2017 and lovers of Dub reggae have been calling me and saying I should come back with a new album.”

His latest project is entitled Greediness of Dub and Otherwise, and listening to it is a refreshing moment that no lover of good music would want to miss. It consists tracks such as Lufuno, Trouble in South Afrika, A vhani funi, Situation Dub, Dub and the DJ, Save your Dub, Don’t sing the Dub, Love crisis Dub, No Love Dub, Greediness, and Babylon Crisis.

“It has been said of music that it mends broken hearts and heals crippled souls, and the kind of music I offer achieves exactly that,” he said.

He grew up listening to dub reggae by good musicians such as Scientist, King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, and Prince Far I. He admitted that their music spoke directly to his mind and heart in a way that made him enter a meditation phase. “It allows you as a listener to savour the amazing artistry of the instrumentalists,” he told Limpopo Mirror.

On this project he features Asataluli Manngo and Taki Mashau. He had worked with Dr Glen Ravhuhali on the arrangements.

He was born and raised in Khubvi village and he is currently working in the Department of Defence as an environmental manager. He is available on Facebook and he can be reached on 083 336 3396.
