You will not starve for rhumba during lockdown

“Though we are deep in the lockdown period, I will not let you feel thirsty for rhumba (Tshigondo) music,” said Bernard Tshibemuda Ndou, a composer, songwriter, guitarist, dancer, and singer. He is based in Musina.

Ndou has assured his fans that they will not starve for his music during the lockdown period. “We have to comply with what the president said about defeating Covid-19, but my music is always played at various radio stations in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Listen to Phalaphala FM, Makhado FM, Nzhelele FM, as well as the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and you will not miss my beat,” said Ndou (35).

Born and bred in Beit Bridge in Zimbabwe, Ndou, like thousands of Zimbabweans, fled the country to look for greener pastures. He was running a general dealer shop but decided to leave it in the hands of someone else.

His talent was realised while he was still at school by a member of the Nyaka Nyaka band in Zimbabwe. “I joined this band, shaping my career at the age of 18. At the same time, I was involved in the school choir,” said Ndou. He added that in 2004 he had gone to Johannesburg and rubbed shoulders with experienced musicians from Zimbabwe.

He learnt more skills on guitars and how to perform on stage.

He also reminded fans that his CDs are sold at Musina FM, or contact Ndou at 073 109 3489/072 100 1640 or on his Facebook page: Bernard Tshibemuda.
