Bashy Jahbless sells music via WhatsApp

The reggae and ragga singer from Vuwani, Bashy Jahbless, has put more effort into his recently released album, Run for your life.

“I had worked harder to ensure that I give my fans the best of sounds and lyrics,” he said. “Lockdown or no lockdown, people have to receive new music in every way.”

Bashy Jahbless strongly believes that music can take away stress and restore happiness. “Although it took me the longest time to release this album, due to challenges that I came across, I told myself that the lockdown was a minor challenge that could not stop me from delivering honey to people's ears,” he said.

He said that he had resorted to selling music via online stores and via WhatsApp. “Due to the lockdown, I'm forced to sell my music via WhatsApp and that's because of the high demand for my album,” he said. “I mean, if we can upload our music on online stores, what then stops us from selling our music directly to our fans via WhatsApp? That’s an innovative way of reaching out to people.”

 Run for your life is Bashy Jahbless’s seventh album. He had released his debut full-length album way back in 2008, entitled World without peace. “Now the new release, Run for your life, consists of nine songs, such as Ndi iteni, Ndo mu tuvha, Let me be and You're gone (RIP),” he said.

He said that Run for your life was a song taken from the Venda Riddim programme Lockdown Riddim, which was originally conceived by Steve Netshishivhe and Lufuno Munzhelele. “People should also expect the music video, which will be shot soon,” he said. “This album was recorded in four different studios to ensure that a high quality was maintained.”

He added that his latest album had put him at another level. “There are so many people who are sending me their projects, saying they want to work with me after listening to Run for your life,” he said. “My ragga style attracts most of my fellow artists. But then, I'm willing to work with every artist who is serious in the music industry. My passion for music makes me prepared to work with other artists.”

On the album Run for your life, he worked with Big Ropza, Ando, Jake Da Vocalist, Phindulo Mashau and LeTwice. “I'd like to thank them for contributing to making this album best,” he concluded.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province.
