Walter and Udozadoza cooking up a rhumba storm

Walter Nkuna and Udozadoza Express are currently in the studio, cooking up a rhumba storm that will be released in due time this year.

Nkuna, a highly talented musician from Mpheni village, has been mesmerising music lovers with great bands such as Malume Shinabya and Shitlamu Boys, Tshifhiwa Rabambukwa, and the mighty Tshigomboza and Khakhathi Band, as guitarist and drummer.

“I found my own voice and started working on my own songs, which were all well received by the public,” he said. “The album I am working on is provisionally titled Ndo mu kondelela.”

Limpopo Mirror had an opportunity to listen to two of the six songs, which all proved to be anthems in the rhumba, sungura or chingondo genre. This emerging artist has undeniably suckled at the sungura breast from early on in his life, as this is evident in the quality of his music.

“I was exposed to good music by excellent guitarists and vocalists whose music kept me dancing day and night, and that has also impacted in my talent as a musician who has come to find a voice for myself,” he said.

His previous album, Tshifhiwa Tshanga (My Gift), was released last year and it did well in the music industry. He is famous for songs such as Tshilani zwanu, Tsho fhela tshifhinga, A vha dzhenelele, and O tou tshivhiwa.

“Ndo mu kondelela  will be my second album and just the thought that I am continuing to do good and quality music makes me feel so robust as an artist whose talent is flourishing and spreading to different corners of the country,” he said.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
