Croco Mitval nominated for Best Upcoming Artist

Livhuwani Stanley Mafanya-Nemushungwa, also known as Croco Mitval, has been nominated for the 2020 GAMA Music Awards for Best Upcoming Artist and he hopes to scoop up the coveted award.

A resident at Thifulanani village, and currently based in Mamelodi East in Pretoria, Croco Mitval is a highly motivated, upcoming artist who believes in his music career and the quality of his music. “When growing up I used to play on a home-made guitar and drums made of tins, and that’s how the music bug came to bite me,” he said.

He has been in the music industry for more than 10 years. “I started out as a dancer with my peers, who are JR Maluleke and Mbulaheni Tshisikhawe (Tshikhwedzhu). I went on to develop my style as a singer and started singing in public spaces, and people responded well to my music, saying that it was unique and amazing.”

In 2019, Croco Mitval participated in the Bob Marley Earth Day festival, which was organised by Kenny Wailer Murabi. On that platform, he brushed shoulders with artists such as Just-ice Mbedzi, Sivhara Mulaudzi, Humbulani Ramagwedzha, Jah Chill 2kan Rsa, Takzit and Malondolo.

“My albums are Zwidiofhela Croco (2011) and Ndi sendele (2019), and I have now released some singles such as Afrika lashu (2020), which was released by Steve Netshishivhe,” he said.

He continues to sip from the cup of juicy inspiration from artists such as Colbert Mukwevho, Khakhathi Tshisikule, Ntshenge & the Jah Life and Burning Spear.

“I am nominated in the GAMA Awards and I am asking readers of Limpopo Mirror to support me by voting for me. They can sms GAMA 2118 to 47439,” he said.
