Majasi releases reggae CD

Khuthadzo Tshirundu, a young reggae artist better known as “Majasi”, has just released his third album, called Tshelede (Money).

He released his first album, Ndo bebwa henefha Africa (I was born here in Africa), in 2008 and his second, Tshifhinga (Time), in 2019.

Majasi (25) passed his Grade 12  in Raluswielo Secondary School in Sibasa last year (2019) and is unemployed,  but said he was still hoping to study to be a mechanic at the Vhembe TVET College next year, as he regarded education as a weapon to defeat poverty and unemployment.

Majasi was born and raised in the rural village of Mbaleni. He draws his inspiration from reggae artists such as Mr Khakhathi “Murida” Tshisikule, who taught him how to play the guitar and sing reggae songs.

Majasi said that his new album had eight tracks, which included Tshelede, Nia a mulivhuwa naa?, Ni songo vhuya na tuwa, Ndi funa inwi ni nothe, and Makhadzi wanga.

With the title track Tshelede, Majasi said he wanted to inform followers of his music that with money one could live like a king or queen, but without money people did not respect one. With Makhadzi wanga, he makes a plea to the ancestors to assist in everyday issues.

All songs were composed by Khuthadzo “Majasi” Tshirundu, while Ronald Mukwevho helped him as backing vocalist. The album was recorded at Chanel tech studio, which is based in Itsani village, just outside Thohoyandou.

For bookings and live performances, Majasi can be contacted at 071 573 5541.
