Vendalist wa u Renda is in touch with SA's social fabric

Poets are known for projecting feelings onto paper, using life’s tests and successes to write about love and happiness, pain and tribulations. Vendalist wa u Renda, who was born Zwidofhela Nemukula at Muledzi Thengwe, is a poet who is particularly in touch with the social fabric of his country.

“I recite my poems on good sounds, and that’s how I am able to relay important messages to the nation,” said the poet. “I discovered my talent as a poet at a young age and have been polishing it ever since. Now I stand taller than lofty buildings, knowing that my poems are reaching many people, who also send me feedback.”

His love of music developed after he had listened to the poetic songs of Fizzytoofab, Vendaboy Poet, MBOY808 and Masimbe. His recorded poetry tracks include Mutakalo, Vha lilaho vha rabela, Takuwa u ye u shuma, and Pfunzo phanda.

“I have just released my poetry EP, titled Zwo itea, with the featured tracks Gombakomba la lunaka, Lufuno ndi mini (ft Traze Lee), Zwo itea (ft Traze Lee), Muhwali wa mathupho (ft Lorenzo SA) and Mufunwa wanga (ft Traze Lee),” he said. “I don’t shy away from writing about issues affecting us as youths. I also use my talent as a poet to praise God.”

He started writing poems during his high school years and had co-authored a poetry collection called Nkho ya vhurendi 1, with Omphulusa Ramenu.

His poetry set to music can be found on most digital music sites, such as Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music, and YouTube.
