Radical Dread says it all through his music.

Radical Dread speaks out through his tunes

At a time of deep self-reflection by thousands of people as the world seems to be at a standstill and leaders have drifted away from the responsibility of addressing important societal problems, Radical Dread speaks out to society about many relevant issues.

He was born Avhapfani Sadiki in Tsianda village and sings about prejudice and freedom, bondage and corruption, rights and justice. “If we as artists do not address these injustices, who will do so?” he asks. “We are here to shout truth to power while also entertaining those who love our music. We sing to bring changes about in our country.”

Radical Dread has just released his new album, titled Mbofholowo na Vhukwila. The album consists of 10 tracks, including Gona ntha gona fhasi, Mbofholowo, Afrika Wo Farani, A ri nga tendi, Pfanelo na Vhulamukanyi, Dub Uhuru and Linwe Shango.

“The songs on this album will not only captivate young people; it is also sophisticated to keep adults engaged,” he said. “These songs will be embedded in your mind after you’ve listened to them only a few times. You will soon start to feel like you've known them for many years.”

Radical Dread has been in the music industry for the past 10 years and has previously released three albums - Jah u ndilani, Mitodzi ya Vharema and Vhutshilo na Tshifhinga - all recorded at Masana Records in Soweto, Johannesburg.

He is joined by an incredible set of friends who feature throughout the album, with names such as Steve Netshishivhe, Parks De Blessing, Jininka, Aweeh, PrinceShoni Rabada and Calvin Mukwevho. He has been described by many people as the voice that calls and awakens the resilient spirit of the young generation, as well as the elderly.

His debut album, Jah u ndilani, was released in 2010 and caught many by surprise. He was not yet well known at the time, but the combination of bold, fresh lyrics and his amazing voice won him many followers.

Mbofholowo na Vhukwila is available in hard copies and on all popular online platforms for streaming or purchase. For CDs, public performances and bookings, Radical Dread can be phoned on Tel 073 392 3324.
