The award-winning gospel singer Rhuu Tshikovha was recently nominated for the Mzansi Arts and Media Awards 2021 (#MAMA21) in the category for Best Gospel Artist.

“It fills my heart with joy to see my music career flourishing,” she said. “This is good news indeed, and I feel honoured to be nominated for the #MAMA21.”

Born Rudzani Cheron Mudzielwana, Rhuu Tshikovha hails from the rural Tshixwadza village. Her first album, Madzanga, was released in 2016 and had previously won music awards, such as Best Gospel Album in 2017 and 2018 during the Afridzonga Music Awards. She is set to release a brand-new album before the end of 2021 and says that her fans can, as usual, expect only the best from her. “I ask of my fans to be a little patient as my team and I are working on a new project. But I promise that it will be worth the wait.”

Rhuu Tshikovha believes that talent alone is not enough in the music industry and says that it takes a lot of hard work to make a lasting impression. “As artists we work really hard on each project to produce a quality product.”

This singer has had a colourful music career thus far. She was a lead vocalist for the group Extreme Worship, who did a live DVD and CD recording in 2016, and also featured in the The Xplicits Gospel Crew, a group from Abuja in Nigeria’s song Deeper in 2018.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
