Hot new album by Adziambei Band

The legendary Tshivenda group Adziambei Band have just released their much-anticipated album, titled Tshitototo, Volume 17.

The album contains eight tracks, including the title track, Tshitototo, Mmbwa ya dodo and Tshimangadzo and Malende ndi rerele Yehova.

The founder of the band, Elias “Maele” Sirwali explained that Tshitototo is the Shona word for a person doing things slowly, and in the song, he implies that he does not want to live with someone who is slow or a slow learner.

Adziambei Band was formed by Sirwali at Guyuni village in 1982 and was later joined by his older brother, Tshivhangwaho Raedani, and cousins Johannes Kwinda and Sarah Masindi. In 1983, they released their first album, Midzimu ya Madimoni, and remained popular into the 90s before disbanding.

The group reunited again in 2012. That same year they won Song of the Year at the Tshivenda Music Award (TSHIMA) with Nwana o ngala ngala. From their formation to now, they have released altogether 17 albums and are known for producing educational, informative music that uplifts the Vhavenda culture and tradition and also addresses challenges such as domestic violence, unemployment, the abuse of drugs and alcohol and piracy.

Tshitototo was recorded at Rise Up Records in Maraxwe village, mastered and mixed by Ananius Begwa and produced by Elias “Maele” Sirwali. The album is available on all digital music platforms, as well as on CD.
