Another tshingondo album for Chibika and the Secret Boys

Popular tshingondo band Chibika and the Secret Boys released their fifth album three weeks ago, much to the delight of their growing number of fans.

The band is the brainchild of Ntuwiseni Hector Mafhara, who is widely known by his stage name, Chibika. After playing different music instruments at the Tshifudi branch of the Redeeming Showers of Grace Christian Church between 2006 and 2013, Chibika decided to form a band of his own, Chibika and the Secret Boys, in 2014.

Their debut tshingondo album, Divorce, was recorded at the Ishy Malala Recording Studios in Tshaulu Mutshetshe in 2015 and released the following year. Divorce contained six tracks, some of which are Thusanani, Lufuno a lu kombetshedzwi and the title song, Divorce. Following the success of Divorce, Chibika and his band were tempted to go back to the same recording studio in 2017.

Their second album, Society, was released in 2017. Just like the debut album, Society comprised six songs. Some of the tracks that made the album a huge success included Tinyiko and Vhabebi. Their third album, Gole litsu, followed in 2018. Unlike the first two albums, Gole litsu was recorded at the Mphagani Recording Studio in Muledane.

The group went back to the same recording studio at the beginning of 2020 and recorded their fourth album, Thaidzo dza mitani, which was released towards the end of the very same year. Chibika revealed that Thaidzo dza mitani had not performed well on the market because of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, that did not deter Chibika and his band from compiling more songs. The group recorded their fifth album, Ndo ni funa ndi tshi zwi divha, at the Mphagani Recording Studio late last year and released it three weeks ago. According to Chibika, the new release is performing well on the market.

Six songs were recorded for the new album, the hottest of which are Tanu shuma, Valentine’s Day, Vhutshilo and the title song, Ndo ni funa ndi tshi zwi divha. The album is available on CD and a number of digital platforms, including You Tube and Amazon. For live performance and orders, Chibika can be contacted on 0790398514.
