Lordy Muvhango releases another reggae-album

When Lordy Muvhango released his debut reggae album, Afrika Tshipembe, in 2015, it caused a big sensation among local reggae lovers. Now, after seven years, Muvhango finally re-emerged with his second album, titled Vivho, which was released at the beginning of February this year.

Asked why it had taken him so long to release his second album, Muvhango said: “I didn’t want to release another album while my fans were still enjoying the first one’s success. Now that they have had their fill of the first album, the time was right to produce my second album.”

Muvhango, born and bred in Ha-Lambani Satani outside Thohoyandou, has not been completely idle during his seven-year absence from the music scene, though. “I was collaborating with other seasoned musicians like Humbulani Ramagwedzha, Takalani Mudau, the late Cyril Ndou, Leminho and Natty King the lion poet while I worked on Vivho, which gave me the opportunity to learn more from these great musicians and produce a more mature album,” he said.

The seven-track album carries educational and entertaining songs, including hits such as Tshihevhehevhe, Mafhungo anga, Dzhenani tshikolo, and Zwi do guma lini.

The musician said he was happy, as the album had so far been well-received by both his fans and local radio stations. “It is fulfilling when you release music that is loved and appreciated by your fans. This simply gives me the courage to put in even more effort in giving them the best music in future.”
