Ntanga's soothing voice can now warm listeners in their homes

People in Matangari and the surrounding villages know Ntanganedzeni Munyai Ramukakate as a great woman with a beautiful voice. When this leady, also known as Ntanga, performs at community gatherings, a strong presence of the Lord can be felt. This is because, when Ntanga sings, she praises the Lord above all else, and by doing so, she warms the hearts of her audience.

For a long time, people had begged her to record her music, so that they could listen to her soothing voice from the comfort of their homes too, and so Ntanga finally gave in. Her debut gospel single, titled Hi Khomele, was recorded in April this year, with two songs, namely Hi Khomele and Dilileleni, released last week (16 June).

A staunch member of the Zion Christian Church, Ntanga was born into a musical family. “My father, Juwas Ramukakate, used to play the mbila (hand piano) and I would sing along with him under the mango tree in front of our home. I joined the church choir at a very young age and became the choir leader despite my young age. When I was at Ndidivhani Primary School, I used to lead the morning devotions and the same happened when I proceeded to Mphalaleni High School. I took it [singing] seriously when I started receiving invitations to sing at social gatherings, like weddings and birthday parties. People also find it comforting to hear my voice when I sing at funerals.”

Ntanga says she has made sure that her music is available in all digital stores to ensure that all her fans can listen to it, regardless of where they may find themselves. Hard copies of the CD will be available from the end of June. “I have also submitted my music to various local and national radio stations, and I have no doubt that they will receive fair airplay,” she says.

Ntanga is already working on a full album. “The single was merely in preparation for my grand entrance into the music industry. When I release the full album at the end of this year, I will be better experienced and informed on how the music industry works,” she said.
