Even before its official release, Mickeyblack’s new song Kushintshile has already gained significant momentum on social media, particularly on TikTok, where fans have eagerly embraced the music video’s powerful message and the song’s infectious melody.
During a visit and performance at her former school, Liivha Secondary in Thohoyandou, the rising star, whose real name is Phathutshedzo Munyadziwa, set the stage on fire and left her peers and former educators in awe.
Her new single was officially released on 9 August, and this time the 21-year-old star from Vuwani collaborated with DJ Gun-Do and Fortunator. Kushintshile is a masterfully crafted song that blends multiple languages, showcasing both her skill and creativity in songwriting. The lyrics explore the theme of congratulating others with the hope of receiving the same recognition one day. It conveys a powerful message about embracing struggles, standing firm through hardships, and believing that everything will eventually make sense.
“The song is a reflection of my personal journey in music. It is filled with ups and downs, moments of clarity, and times of confusion, but always with a vision for change and progression,” she explained.
Mickeyblack further pointed out that Kushintshile is not just a song but an anthem of resilience and hope, and a gift to all listeners and fans.
The young artist is already an accomplished singer and vocalist, balancing her burgeoning music career with her studies at Vhembe TVET College. Her passion for music started when she was still in Grade 6 at Tshivhulana Primary School. She later joined the school choir and began to immerse herself in music.
However, not until she had met VanGee, a pivotal figure in her life, did she delve into the intricacies of music production and songwriting.
In 2020, Mickeyblack released her debut single, Nothing Better, marking her official entry into the music industry. She has since released several EPs and singles, collaborating with many top local artists.
