Mukundi releases a new Amapiano single

Entertainment - Date: 22 September 2024

Mukundi Ramaite (21), a talented musician from Louis Trichardt, has released a new Amapiano single. Known simply as Mukundi on stage, she is skilled in playing several musical instruments and has a deep passion for her art and the joy that music brings.

Mukundi said that music had always been a significant part of her life. While she values education and worked hard to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, USA, her love of music kept driving her forward.

She emphasised the importance of sharing and spreading love through music. “I'm definitely someone who embraces love, so it wasn’t difficult to come up with such a jam. The [new] song will get audiences dancing while celebrating love at the same time,” she said.

Mukundi explained that her Amapiano single tells the story of the challenges she has faced in life and how she has overcome them. She added that the song was performing well, even though it had not been extensively marketed yet.

“Being from Limpopo comes with its own challenges, as many people still don’t believe that local artists can be great musicians. I suppose it’s because more artists come from Gauteng and other provinces. So, being a local artist can be challenging because people don’t always take you seriously,” she said.

She encouraged young girls aspiring to be musicians to be truly passionate about the field, “like a duck taking to water”. Mukundi thanked her family and friends for their unwavering support.
