Radio Thohoyandou’s new breakfast-show host, Nakisani Mabogo, is giving listeners the time of their lives, keeping their ears glued to their radios. Having only started in August 2023, the popular presenter from Thohoyandou M East is fast becoming a household name and has amassed thousands of listeners within a short space of time. He presents the “91.7 Breakfast on Radio Thohoyandou” show, which airs between 7:00 and 10:00 from Monday to Friday and is an interaction between him and the listeners via social media.

Mbulaheni Musenwa, a 19-year-old from Madombidzha, has made his parents and teachers proud by publishing his first book of short stories titled “New Mind, New Life” on 21 March. Mbulaheni, a Grade 12 learner at Maluta High, simply loves writing stories.

Ms. Fhulufhelo Thabo, who resides in Phadzima, supports her children by crafting traditional items with beads. “In my work, I create necklaces, keyholders, and bracelets made from beads. Some of the beadwork is done in colours that tourists love,” she says.

Led by elders deeply connected to their heritage, the African Indigenous Instrument Preservation NPC has stepped into the spotlight. This group, consisting of seasoned musicians from various Limpopo communities, convenes bi-monthly at Thohoyandou Arts and Culture Centre. Rejecting modern influences, they stand as guardians of African indigenous music, committed to preserving its essence for future generations.
