King Mlatiro pleads with people to stop saying evil things about him.

"I am not a satanist and womaniser"

A star at local clubs, Godfrey “King Mlatiro” Ndou, may take legal action against individuals who "continue to taint his name through malicious rumours."

The Madombidzha-born singer and youth music promoter approached Limpopo Mirror, alleging that "some people are moving around," saying that he was HIV positive, had many children with several different mothers, and that he was an addicted womaniser and a Satanist.

“I am no longer happy in life because there are people who are trying to ruin my life,” he said. “They are jealous people who don't want to see me happy at all.”

He indicated that these envious attitudes started when the kwasa-kwasa maestro, Berea Madzonga, started managing him for artistic purposes. “They wanted to know how I came to know Mr Madzonga and why he had selected me among hundreds of artists in Vhembe District,” he said. “He believed in my talent and in promoting young talent - that's all I can say.”

Just a year and half ago, King Mlatiro was based in Gauteng for work purposes. When he returned early this year, he initiated a relationship with a local girl, but she soon dumped him. “She said some people told her that I was HIV positive and broke,” he said.

“I recovered from the shock and dated another one. After a few weeks, she too terminated the relationship. She said people who knew me, and people from our area, told her that I was a Satanist. They even said that I worked with the Illuminati and that I had more than 20 kids in the Sinthumule and Kutama areas.”

He stated that people who had any issues with him should just confront him and stop muddying his name. “I am not a Satanist or a womaniser – and I am not HIV positive,” he said. “People are jealous because I am a good singer and I wear fine attire from boutiques.”

King Mlatiro's successful studio albums include It's my time (2011) and Dumbumadzikule (2015).

Munna Ndi Nnyi's director Dr Bardwell Mufunwaini criticised all people who persecuted King Mlatiro. “This is utter persecution which will eventually harm this young man psychologically,” he said. “We will provide professional counselling to him on time.”
