Vhamusanda Raphalalani takes up role to lead Mavhode Village

The newly installed traditional leader of Mavhode village, near Tshamulungwi in the Ha-Rammbuda Tribal Council, Vhamusanda Vho-Dzialwa Raphalalani, declared his readiness to serve the communities under him to the best of his abilities during the installation ceremony as new traditional leader on Saturday, 24 July.

“We understand that our communities are situated in deep rural villages where there are no proper roads, but we will work hard to obtain such services,” he pledged.

Raphalalani succeeded his late father, Vhamusanda Tshidula Raphalalani, who passed away in January this year.

Thovhele Ratshibvumo II Rammbuda said a village without a traditional leader was doomed, but by installing a new traditional leader, the communities now had a leader to whom they could report their grievances.

“From today onwards, the communities in Mavhode village must come here to the chief’s kraal for services, such as the official stamp of the traditional leader when applying for identity documents and opening new bank accounts, among other things,” Thovhele Rammbuda announced. The ceremony was attended only by Raphalalani and the Rammbuda royal families, due to the level 4 Covid-19 regulations.

Rammbuda further encouraged the new traditional leader to dedicate himself to serving his communities in a fair and diplomatic manner, without taking sides. He told the new chief to respect and treat his people with dignity and to love everybody in the village - irrespective of being poor or mentally ill.

During the ceremony, Thivhavhudzi Mukhathi was named khadzi, while Tsumedzo Raphalalani was named ndumi.

Vhamusanda Daniel Silidi, who represented the traditional leaders of Ha-Rambuda, welcomed the new chief in the Ha-Rammbuda Tribal Council and urged him to regularly attend the imbizo that are normally held in the Thovhele’s kraal in Dzimauli Village, just a stone-throw from his own village.

“We wish you the best in your tenure as traditional leader of Mavhode Village. We urge you to be on the forefront in developing your village through community initiative projects,” said Silidi.
