“I can sleep better, I buried the remains of my child”

“I can sleep better now, after I buried the remains of my child, who was killed in a car accident and burnt beyond recognition,” said Mr Thomas Mudau after the burial of his child.

Mudau, of Tsianda-Govhathondoni outside Thohoyandou, is the father of the deceased Trevor Mudau, who died after being involved in an accident on the N1 road in Mokopane in March. The family could not bury the remains, waiting for the police to complete their forensic investigations

“We were surprised to see the police coming to the house on Tuesday (fortnight ago) after the media coverage. Little did we know they were coming with good news. They informed us that they had completed the investigation and the family could now bury the remains,” said Mudau.

According to Mudau, from the day of the burial of his child he could have a good night and sleep better as he had pleased his ancestors.

Mr Trevor Farisanani Mudau (34) was alone in his car, driving from Gauteng to his home village of Tsianda in Limpopo, on 4 March when the accident occurred. Mudau’s vehicle caught fire and he was burnt beyond recognition.

Family spokesperson Mr Khuliso Masakona said three people had died during the accident. He is survived by his wife, Azwianewi Mudau, and two children, Tshifhiwa and Ondwela.
