It's Dynamos vs Leopards

Sport  Date: 20 December 2002

THOHOYANDOU – All roads will lead to the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow afternoon. The long awaited Limpopo derby between Dynamos and Black Leopards will be staged at this venue. Apart from the fact that pride will be at stake for both sides, Dynamos desperately need maximum points in order to stay in the hot race for the league championships.

The Giyani outfit is still mourning a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Moroka Swallows last weekend. On the other hand Lidoda Duvha are faced with similar circumstances, as they are currently perched somewhere down in the relegation zone. This will be the last league fixture for the two teams before breaking for the Christmas holiday.

It is for this reason that the Leopards Public Relations Officer Mr Tshifhiwa Thidiela regards the match as a Christmas gift for club supporters. According to him any card-carrying member of the club who brings along another person to the game will be expected to pay a discounted amount of R10 per person.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:30. In other PSL matches to be played tomorrow, Orlando Pirates will test their strength against Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. Bush Bucks and Ajax Cape Town will fight for league points at the Absa Stadium in East London.

Five matches will be played at different venues on Sunday. The relegation haunted Hellenic will take on African Wanderers at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town. The Cape Town "Greek gods" are still recuperating from a 2-6 loss at the hands of Dynamos a fortnight ago.

Moroka Swallows will lock horns with the defending champions, Santos Football Club at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg. The morale is high in the Swallows camp after beating Dynamos 2-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium last weekend. Jomo Cosmos will entertain Wits University Football Club at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa.

Kaizer Chiefs will undertake a journey to Durban where they will meet Manning Rangers in a battle for league points. The match will be played at the Chartsworth Stadium. Supersport United will enjoy home ground advantage when they meet Sundowns Football Club at the HM Pitje Stadium in Pretoria. This match will be screened live on television.
