Huge interest in ABC Vhembe derby

Local soccer fans are expected to stream to the Tshifudi Stadium tomorrow afternoon for the much-awaited ABC Motsepe League match between the Vhembe-based sides, Madridtas FC and Joe Maweja.

It will be time for Madridtas to collect league points and restore their lost pride after losing their two previous matches. Apart from the fact that the much-needed victory will boost the team’s morale, winning the match will enhance Madridtas’ chances of winning the league title.

The Tshifudi-based side stands an outside chance of winning the league title, considering the fact that they are currently lying in the sixth position on the log.

On the other hand, Maweja are fast recuperating after turning into the league’s laughing stock in the last month. Maweja let Giyani Hotspurs off the hook by allowing them to come back from a 0-2 deficit to hold them to a 2-2 draw at the Tshifulanani Stadium last Saturday.

Residents of Giyani will watch a double header at the Giyani Stadium. Bellevue Winners Park will meet Lephalale Young Killers at 13:00,  while Giyani Hotspurs will lock horns with Great North FC later in the afternoon. Winners Park are currently leading the pack.

Gawula Classic and Boyne Young Tigers will meet at Boyne, while Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) will host Mighty FC at the Tshifulanani Stadium. TTM lost 2-3 to Great North FC last Saturday.

The Dolphins will have a date with Polokwane Academy in Polokwane and Mokopane Ratanang will undertake a journey to Polokwane United, and A1 Terrors and Molemole Academy will meet in Modimolle.

The players to watch in the weekend's matches are Maduvha Mudologi, Dakalo Nemakonde and Rofhiwa Netshiungani (Madridtas) and Khumbudzo Muvhango, Mashudu Mukhari and Tzanzi Muruge (Maweja).
