Leopards’ coach optimistic about promotion

The coach of Black Leopards, Mr Jean Luscuito, believes that his side will gain promotion to the Absa Premiership Division at the end of the season.

In an interview at the Thohoyandou Stadium, shortly after their 2-1 victory over Cape Town All Stars last Saturday, Luscuito said that their aim was to win all their remaining matches.

He said winning all their remaining matches would make them gain promotion either automatically or through the promotional play-offs. Black Leopards are in the second spot on the log with 36 points, eight behind the logleaders, Thanda Royal Zulu. “With nine matches remaining before the activities for the current season come to an end, anything can still happen,” he said.

One of Leopards’ remaining matches will be against the pace setters, Thanda Royal Zulu. Although it will be an away fixture for them, Luscuito said Thanda would not stop their mission to win all their remaining matches. Leopards drew 0-0 with Thanda in their first-round league match at the Thohoyandou Stadium four months ago.

If the currently league log were the final one, Thanda Royal Zulu would be gaining automatic promotion, while Black Leopards and Stellenbosch FC would have secured places in the promotional playoffs. Stellenbosch FC are close behind in the third spot with 34 points. The Leopards’ remaining fixtures are: FC Cape Town (away), Real Kings (home), Thanda Royal Zulu (away), Jomo Cosmos (away), Amazulu (home), Royal Eagles (away), Magezi FC (home), University of Pretoria (away) and Mthatha Bucks (home).

Magezi FC and Santos are currently rooted in the 16th and 15th position on the log with 16 and 18 points respectively.
