Defenders crowned as the new champions of Mabena top 8

Mpheni Home Defenders were crowned the new champions of the Mabena Top 8 when they beat Muwaweni Lucky Stars 3-0 at the Mashamba grounds on Sunday.

Defenders were superior when it came to ball possession. Ndaedzo”Let them dance” Mareda scored a hat trick.

Shumani Selowa of Stars was the first player to go into the referee’s book. He tackled Emmanuel Mphephu from behind and the referee was quick to produce yellow. A defender of Stars then handled the ball inside his own penalty area, and the referee pointed to the white spot. Ndaedzo Mareda was on target from the spot.

A striker fof Stars, Ishamael Mashao, missed a sitter after he received a neat pass from Thabang Ramashia in the 25-meter area.

Defenders continued to press hard in their search for the much-needed goal, but things continued to work against them. Morgan Makhuvha, the Defenders' skipper, was booked for a late tackle on Nkhumeleni Ramphaka in the 74th minute.

Mareda scored his second goal in the 76th minute. The last goal of the match came 10 minutes later. Mareda scored, following a square pass by Shavy Muvhango.
