Amazing victory for Try Again

Makuya Try Again came back from a 0-2 deficit to beat Thenzheni Liverpool 7-6 in the final of the Abraham Netshisaulu Soccer Tournament at the Sambandou United Professionals grounds on Sunday.

The first half was characterized by wasted scoring chances. Try Again were the first to squander an obvious chance. Their overlapping midfielder, Mukhauli Nephawe, was unfortunate in the ninth minute. He received a beautiful pass from Mishumo Matshete and shot wide from close range.

Liverpool had their chance nine minutes later. Mulamuleli Netshidzivhe could not believe his eyes when his ground cutter missed the target by inches.

The scoreboard was still blank at half time, despite numerous attempts by both sides.

Tshituli Kwinda of Liverpool was booked for obstruction two minutes into the last half. Liverpool opened their account in the 56th minute. Zwondina Matidze finished off a rebound, following Vhudzani Mananga’s initial attempt. Nnetshedzeni Maphanda of Try Again then received a yellow card after he tackled Geofrey Mavhungu from behind.

Liverpool increased the lead in the 64th minute, when Otanganedza Radamba hooked in the ball, following Zwondina Matidze’s square pass. Try Again pulled one back in the 70th minute. They were awarded a penalty after Ompha Makuya was brought down within the box. Mukhauli Nephawe made no mistake from the white spot.

Try Again did not give in, despite the fact that time was fast running out for them. They found the equalizer through Mukhauli Nephawe in the dying minutes of the game. The winner was determined through a penalty shoot-out as the score was 2-2 when the referee blew the final whistle. Try Again converted five and Liverpool four from the penalty spot.
