TTM and Spurs share the glory

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) came back from a 0-2 half-time deficit and held Witbank Spurs to a 2-2 draw in their National First Division League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.

It took the visitors from eMalahleni only three minutes to open their account. Moses Raphepele was on target, following an attempt from the 25-meter area.

The keeper of TTM, Nnditsheni Sigaba, miscalculated the flow of the ball and suffered the pain of watching it go beyond his reach. The goal injected more fighting spirit into the Spurs’ strikers. In the 12th minute, Spurs increased the margin. Slovo Mrawu finished off a rebound, following Patrick Mubayiwa’s initial attempt.

The TTM’s technical staff blamed the keeper for the two goals. That became evident when they replaced him with Bongani Manavhela in the 18th minute. TTM were forced to effect another change to their starting line-up in the 24th minute. Tsepo Makgoga sustained an ankle injury and was replaced with Forster Nkuna.

Humphrey Khosa, the Spurs’ centre back, was the first player to go into the referee’s book. His offence was time wasting.

TTM strengthened their striking force by introducing Aluwani “Killer” Nedzamba in the 54th minute. Spurs used all their substitution chances soon afterwards. They committed suicide by playing defensive football throughout the last half.

Killer Nedzamba was brought down within the box and the referee was quick to award a penalty to TTM. Lifa Hlungwane made no mistake from the white spot. TTM’s equalizer came 14 minutes before the end of the regulation time. Hlungwane completed his brace with a header, following a square pass from Mpambaniso Monde.

Spurs were  lucky not to concede a third goal as TTM were unstoppable in the last 10 minutes of the game.
