Fabulous prizes in Zama-Zama Challenge

The Zama-Zama annual tournament will be officially launched during a meeting at the Giyani Multi-Purpose Centre on Sunday morning.

According to the founder and sponsor of the tournament, Mr Victor Hlungwani, 32 teams will battle it out for the championship in this year’s tournament. Hlungwani is a professional football referee.

This year’s champions will take home R30 000, a soccer kit, a floating trophy and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R15 000 and silver medals. The third- and fourth-placed teams will each take home R7 500. Individual awards will be presented to the top goal scorer, player of the tournament, best goalkeeper, coach of the tournament and the best referee. They will each receive trophies and cash awards.

Hlungwani has appealed to the clubs to send two delegates to Sunday’s meeting. Delegates will be expected to pay the registration fee of R900 at the meeting. The toss for the first-round matches will be done during the meeting.

According to Hlungwani, only clubs that will have registered will be entitled to take part in the tossing process on Sunday.

When asked as to what will happen in case more than 32 clubs register for the tournament on Sunday, Mr Hlungwani said that the decision would be taken during the meeting, should the unexpected happen. The opening matches of the tournament will be played at the Homu B grounds in Giyani on Saturday, 16 December. The final will be played at the same venue on Sunday, 31 December.
