Stars hammer United

Makhitha Oscar Stars humiliated the struggling Muraleni United Brothers 4-1 in an MMK Administrators league match played at Muraleni grounds on Sunday.

United managed to match Stars in the early minutes pound for pound, but their fighting spirit vanished with time. Stars were leading 4-0 at half time. Their opening goal came in the 13th minute, when the veteran, Masala Tshimenze forced his way through the defence of United and beat the keeper with a ground cutter.

United did not stop fighting despite conceding an early goal. They created numerous scoring opportunities, but their strikers let them down by shooting aimlessly from close range. Stars increased the margin in the 18th minute. Faith Ratombo found the net following a neat pass from Leavy Machaba.

Stars increased the margin moments thereafter. Ratombo completed his brace by sending the keeper the wrong way with a close-range half volley after he beat the off-side trap and scored easily. Stars put matters beyond doubt in the 36th minute. Mpho Malumedzha hit the back of the net with a ground cutter after beating the offside trap.

In the second half United introduced Mutshutshu Mbodi, Melton Nembidzani and Euclia Kobudwe for Aluwani Sikhau, Aluwani Machaba and Ndivhoniswani Makhokha. Their replacement did not change any image of the match as Stars were still playing good football in all departments. United pulled one back seven minutes later. Musthutshu Mbodi, who came on as a substitute, headed home after a corner kick that was taken by Godwin Mahuwa.

United started to display rough skills towards the end of the game. The referee normalized the situation by giving two players, Bongani Baloyi of United and Hulisani Khangala of Stars, their marching orders for fighting.
