Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) must beat Richards Bay FC to keep their promotional playoff hopes alive when they meet in their National First Division League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
TTM are currently in the third position on the log with 36 points, two behind the second-placed Real Kings, and 14 behind the pace setters, Highlands Park.
The fact that Richards Bay are fighting for survival is reason for TTM not to expect an easy victory tomorrow. The KwaZulu Natal side are in the fourth position from the bottom of the log, with 24 points, only four points above the tail-enders, Mthatha Bucks. Richards Bay turned one of the strongest sides after appointing the former Black Leopards coach, Mr Jean Loscuito, as their team’s mentor three months ago.
The combination of Nuzhard Pail, Tebogo Kalake, David Mathebula and Themba Ndlovu is expected to keep the Bay’s defence running for cover from the onset.
Black Leopards have a mountain to climb tomorrow. They will travel to Durban where they will lock horns with Real Kings at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Kings are in the second spot on the log, while Lidoda Duvha are two steps below them. Should they win against Real Kings, Black Leopards are likely to move to the second spot on the log, depending on the result of the match between TTM and Richards Bay.
Mthatha Bucks will host Uthongathi FC at the Mthatha Stadium. Should they fail to collect full points tomorrow, Mthatha Bucks will be almost sure of facing relegation at the end of the season.
Another fight for survival will be between Super Eagles and Royal Eagles at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem. Pretoria University will have a date with Witbank Spurs at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria. The log leaders, Highlands Park, will host Mbombela United at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa.
Jomo Cosmos and Ubuntu Cape Town will fight for league points at the Vosloorus Stadium on Sunday, while the Western Cape derby between Cape Town All Stars and Stellenbosch FC will be staged at the Parow Park Stadium.
