Samba girls in national women's league

The Raliphaswa Samba Girls from Vhembe played well during the Limpopo ladies soccer play-offs at the Lephalale Stadium last weekend and were promoted to the National Sasol Women's League.

The girls ended up as the champions during the Limpopo Women’s play-offs. They played against others teams from four other districts.

Samba Girls and Mandebele Happy Fighters from Limpopo were automatically promoted to the Safa National Sasol Women’s League.

According to the managing director of Samba Girls, Mr Baldwin Muhovha, their success can be attributed to the commitment among the players and the management. "There was teamwork amongst the players, management and the technical staff, and that made the job easier throughout the long season," said Muhovha.

He thanked the management of Safa Vhembe, led by the president, George Kubayi, who supported them during the play-offs. Muhovha stated that they would play many friendly matches before going for the league programme. He feels they are fully prepared for the Vodacom League heat.

When asked as to how they would manage to maintain their Sasol Women’s league status without a sponsor, Mr Muhovha said that they were going all out in searching for a Good Samaritan who could assist them financially.
