Defenders gave Powerline a day to remember

Mpheni Home Defenders gave Zoutpansberg Powerline a Sunday to remember when they brutally walloped them 6-0 in their MMK Administrators league match at Tshiozwi on Sunday.

Powerline spent the better part of the one-sided affair chasing the action. It took Defenders only seven minutes to open their account. Their killer-striker, Shaft Mafunisa, went loose after beating the offside trap and sent the keeper the wrong way.

Powerline lost shape in the middle of the park shortly after Defenders' opening goal. Defenders scored their second goal in the 14th minute. Their new signee, Ndaedzo “Let them dance” Mareda, blasted in a rocket after a scramble within the box that beat the keeper, Vhuthuhawe Netshiombvani, hands down. The half-time score was 2-0 in favour of Defenders.

Pressure continued to mount on the Powerline defence. Defenders were awarded a corner kick in the 54th minute. Dakalo Nwanamidwa took the corner kick and the ball went to Ndaedzo Mareda, who made it 3-0.

Freddy Ncobo, who came on as a substitute for Dakalo Nwanamidwa, was on target in the 69th minute. He scored after receiving a square pass from Emmanuel Mphephu. Hlamulo Ndlovu of Powerline failed to score when he beat the offside trap and shot wide after he received a pre-cooked pass from Nyathi Netshiendeulu.

Defenders increased the margin through an own goal from Powerline defender Ndivhuwo Lethole. Freddy Ncobo scored his team’s sixth goal after a brilliant pass from Morgan Makhuvha in the 87th minute to bring the full-time score to 6-0.
