Leopards need four points

Black Leopards must collect at least four points in their remaining two promotional playoff matches to be sure of a place in the Premiership Division. Lidoda Duvha will travel to Rustenburg tomorrow, where they will lock horns with Platinum Stars at the Moruleng Stadium. Their last fixture will be against Jomo Cosmos at the Thohoyandou Stadium next Wednesday, 30 May.

It will be time for Dikwena to avenge the 0-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Leopards in their opening match at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Wednesday. Should they manage to collect the maximum points against Stars tomorrow, a draw against Cosmos will be good enough to see them through to the elite division.

Although only four points will be enough for Lidoda Duvha to say goodbye to the National First Division, the team’s head coach, Mr Joel Masutha, said their target was to win both remaining matches convincingly for their sake of the team’s supporters, who were behind the team through thick and thin. “Our supporters deserve more than just four points as they spend a lot of money to travel with the team,” he said.

He applauded them for what they did last Sunday when they traveled in their numbers to the Vosloorus Stadium for the match against Jomo Cosmos.  Although it was an away match for them, Leopards’ fans outnumbered their Cosmos counterparts by far at the Vosloorus Stadium.

The Thohoyandou outfit will welcome their playmaker, Khuliso Mudau, back to the team tomorrow. Mudau watched their game against Cosmos last Sunday from the grandstand after seeing four yellow cards in their previous matches.

In an interview with the Limpopo Mirror, the Stars’ head coach, Mr Roger de Sa, was quick to mention that Leopards would be lucky if, by chance, they managed to hold Dikwena to a draw tomorrow. “We must beat Leopards at all cost if we are serious about retaining our Absa Premiership franchise,” he said.
