SAB Provincial play-offs postponed

Tshakhuma RO Nandilani FC might have been crowned the MMK Administrators Soccer League overall champions, but they have a mountain to climb before gaining promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

The Tshakhuma side must finish in one of the top two positions in the provincial promotional play-offs. The play-offs were initially scheduled for this weekend at the Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen, but they will now be staged at the same venue next weekend.

According to the provincial secretary of the South African Football Association, Mr Patrick Seema, the postponement was influenced by the fact that only four of the five regional associations had managed to produce a winner for each section. Seema indicated that the Capricorn Region was still to submit the name of the team that will represent them in the two-day event.

He added that although the Capricorn Region had wrapped up their league programme about a month ago, the teams were still engaged in boardroom battles.

Vhembe Regional Association will be represented by Tshakhuma RO Nandilani. Other teams in the playoffs are Baobab Zero Fake (Mopani), Ngwaabe City Motors (Sekhukhune) and Lephalale Giant Killers (Waterberg).

When asked about their level of readiness for the playoffs, the head coach of Tshakhuma RO Nandilani, Mr Mashudu “Coolio” Ndou, said that his boys were ready, even if the tournament were to be staged this weekend as originally scheduled. He stated that they had started with their preparations for the playoffs a day after they were crowned the overall champions of the Vhembe Region two weeks ago.

Nandilani’s opening match next Saturday will be against City Motors. They will lock horns with Baobab Zero Fake in their last fixture of the first day. They will entertain the team from Capricorn in their third encounter, while their last fixture will be against Lephalale Giant Killers. The Vhembe Regional Association was represented by Mikhado FC in the same event that was staged at the Rabali Stadium last year.
