Chippas United Ladies up for grabs

One of the Sasol Women’s League affiliates, Chippas United Ladies Football Club, is for sale.

The team’s managing director, Mr Robson “Chippa” Magoro, made the announcement this week. According to him, the decision to sell the club’s franchise was reached after he realised that  financing the club’s activities alone was difficult for him.

The club was founded 10 years ago, and the team has been relying on Magoro to pay for everything. He said that he approached numerous businesspeople for sponsorship during the past years, without success. According to him, he never intended to leave football this early, but circumstances beyond his control had compelled him to take the decision.

Magoro was one of the founder-members of the now-defunct Magidi Greenside Callies in the late eighties. He moved to Shayandima Bob Stars, where he was one of the directors of the club. Shayandima Bob Stars later bought the NFD franchise.

When asked about the selling price of the club’s franchise, Magoro stated that it was a matter between himself and the prospective buyers.

When asked as to whether the sale was limited to residents of Vhembe District only, Magoro stated he would sell it to the highest bidder from the Limpopo Province, should he not find a buyer from Vhembe District.

Chippas United Ladies finished their league programme in the 10th position in the season that ended last month. Prospective buyers can phone Magoro on 082 597 2786.
