People who attended the media conference for the KFC Pre-season Cup 2018 at Hollywoodbets' Musina Branch at Musina on Saturday.

Mamu's KFC pre-season cup plays this weekend

 

Sixteen teams will participate in the KFC Pre-season Cup on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (15, 16 and 17 December).

This comes after the toss was held at Hollywoodbets' Musina Branch on Saturday.

The tournament is organised and hosted by Mamu Community Development, a non-profit organisation aimed at creating entertainment and unearthing and promoting sporting talent for the Vhembe people.

The tournament will play in two divisions, U/15 and the open. The matches will be played at the Lesley Manyathela Stadium in Musina.

On Sunday, eight teams will fight for the semi-final positions. They are Skom Boys vs Zimbabwe Blackburn Rovers (09:00); Skeem Sam vs G Lupopo (11:00); Ariedeli vs Musina Starting XI (13:00), and Musina Fire Boys vs Tshikhudini Real Madrid (15:00).

The four winners will enter into the the semi-final and the winners from the two matches will determine the final match, which will be played on Monday at 15:00.

The final game will the game by the selected U/15 players as curtain raiser at 13:00, while the final match is at 15:00. The U/15s play under the Collins Sebola Talent Identification flag.

“We continue to thank all the teams for cooperation and all our respective sponsors for a continued journey of adding value to our communities together,” said the general secretary of Mamu Community Development, Mr Jafter Mamugudubi.

The champions of the KFC Pre-season Cup 2018 will receive a sponsorship for the 2018/2019 season, consisting of registration, transport fees to all matches, referee fees for all games, and administration fees at a cost value of R10 000 cash. They will also get soccer kit, a trophy and 30 gold medals.

The loser in the final will receive R5 000 and a soccer kit. All other losing teams will get R500 each.

As usual, soccer legend Jerry “Legs of Thunder” Sikhosana will be the guest of honour. He will motivate the players and scout for young and fresh talent  during the matches. The identified boys will then get sent for coaching and possible selection at national soccer development teams.
