Tournament to honour soccer giant

 

Residents of Matavhela and Shakadza will once again honour the memory of a soccer giant, the late Mr Azwinndini Tshisudzungwane.

The annual Azwinndini Tshisudzungwane soccer tournament will take place at the Musunda FC sports grounds at Tshitanzhe Village on Thursday, 27 December. According to a spokesperson for the event, the annual tournament is also used to unite the neighbouring areas “and to keep reminding those working in Gauteng and other areas to remember their homes, where they come from.”

The tournament usually attracts people from all over the province.

The following teams will compete: Musunda FC, Shakadza Ocean Swallows, Nwanedi Mountain Sweepers and Always Remember Home, a team of local players based in Gauteng.

Prizes include trophies, balls, soccer kits and cash for different categories. Cash prizes will be awarded to the player, top goal scorer, midfielder, defender, goal, goalkeeper and coach of the tournament.

The tournament was launched in 2012.
