Reward for Leopards' coach and striker

Black Leopards striker Mwape Musonda and coach Dylan Kerr won the Absa Premier Soccer League’s player and coach of the month awards for December/January.

The two were recognised at the PSL's offices in Johannesburg on Wednesday. Kerr joined Leopards in November last year after the team parted ways with their former coach, Joel Masutha.

Since Kerr joined them, the team has played six matches and has won four and drawn two. "I understand this reward is a reward for our team work, because we have been working together all the time as a team; that includes players‚ technical team and team managers. It also includes the departments like medical and technical support‚ and our management‚" Kerr said.

“Our chairman‚ Mr David Thidiela‚ is always there to help us and, of course‚ Lidoda Duvha‚ our supporters‚ are loyal supporters.”

Although Leopards are now in the 11th position on the latest league log, Musonda is the league’s current top goal scorer with eight goals in 17 matches. He proved that he was hungry for goals when he found the net when they played Orlando Pirates at Thohoyandou on Saturday. He scored the equalizer when they beat Pirates in a 5-4 by penalty shoot-out.

In an interview, Musonda told Limpopo Mirror that his intention was to maintain his current form and finish the league programme as the top Premier League scorer. He added that he was aware that most of the teams would target him, but he would continue to score, despite all the odds.

He thanked his team's players, coach and management for the teamwork.
