Juventus too strong for Ravies

In their MTG KO competition match played at the Thohoyandou P-East grounds on Sunday, Juventus FC beat Ravies FC 3-1 to secure a place in the next round of the prestigious competition.

As if they were going to bury Juventus alive, Ravies made their intentions clear from the first whistle. They threatened to score in the eighth minute. Their slender striker, Ndivhuwo Mukwevho, went loose from the left corner and unleashed a half volley from the 25-meter area. The ball missed the target by inches.

Their solitary goal came in the 18th minute. Thendo Mudzuli beat the keeper with a long-range ground cutter.

Vusani Mathobo of Juventus was the first player to go into the referee’s book. He tackled Muano Nemukula the rough way and the referee was quick to flash yellow.

The goal seemed to be an insult to the players of Juventus. They regrouped from behind, initiating promising moves from the middle of the park. They found the equalizer in the 24thminute. This after they were awarded a free kick in the 35-meter area.

Ndivhuwo Raluswinga tried his luck from the free kick with a volley. Nduvho Tshikalange, the Ravies’ keeper, misjudged the flight of the ball and suffered the pain of watching it go beyond his reach. Juventus took 38 minutes to increase the margin. Aluwani Mulovhedzi beat the offside trap and unleashed a rocket from inside the box.

Juventus threatened to score again 10 minutes into the last half. Hudson Matamela, who came on as a substitute for Vusani Mthobo, shot wide with the keeper already beaten. Juventus put the matter beyond doubt in the 78th minute. Kulani Mabasa finished off a square pass from Lufuno Muvhango to bring the full-time score to 3-1.
