New team aims high

Soccer lovers around Sambandou and surrounding areas can now watch Safa Vhembe MMK Administrators League matches on their doorstep.

This follows the decision by the chairperson of Dipeni FC, Mr Itani Munzhelele, to buy the Castle League status of Shadani Dangerous Darkies. The team, which has been based in Makonde, are playing in Stream I.

According to Munzhelele, the reason behind buying the team is to develop young players. He said that in the Sambandou area a lot of talent could be found. Munzhelele said he wanted to produce more players who could play for any elite league team.

He stated that he had confidence in the people of the Vhumbedzi area, that they would take his team to the highest level of football in the country within a reasonable period. He said that their plan was that, in 2023, they must play in the NFD or PSL.

Mr Emmanuel Muthwanamba has been appointed head coach of the team and he will be assisted by Mr Andani Maluleke. Mr Vhegani Mbevhana is the chief executive officer, Mr Tshifaro “Killer” Mulaudzi the technical director, Mr Patrick Baloyi the public relations officer, Messrs Thinadavha Manngo and Tshilidzi Netshitongwe are the secretary and deputy secretary and Mr Mahembe Nevhudzivhadi is the treasurer.

The team will play their matches at the Tshitavha Tsha Sambandou Dipeni grounds and they are in the second spot in Stream I of the MMK League.

The head coach, Mr Emmanuel Mutwanamba, said that he had been given the mandate to ensure that the team completed the league programme on the top on the log and play the promotional play-off to the Safa ABC Motsepe League. He indicated that the target was achievable, taking into account the fact that they were at present only one point behind the current log leaders.
