Stars shine over Samba Girls

Morning Stars Ladies continued to pave their way to the National Professional Division by beating Samba Girls FC 2-0 in their Sasol Women’s League match at the Tshikombani Primary School grounds on Saturday.

The game was a seesaw battle as the teams created scoring chances and squandered them time after time. The referee, Ms Vhahangwele Nembaleni, flashed the first yellow card in the 19th minute. Dolly Mnisi, the former Morning Stars’ dribbling wizard, was cautioned with a card for time wasting.

Morning Stars claimed the lead in the 36th minute. A scramble within the Girls’ penalty area gave rise to a beautiful goal. Shumani Tshikosi gave the ball a final touch to bring the half-time score to 1-0.

Tshifhiwa Khangale of Morning Stars was lucky not to see red for a rough tackle on Madembe Tshikumbu in front of the referee. Referee Nembaleni chose to let her go with a yellow card.

Samba Girls replaced Shumani Muleka with Beauty Twala nine minutes into the second half. Samba Girls threatened to score moments later. Tondani Muhovha went loose from the right corner and lost possession just before she unleashed at the edge of the box.

Morning Stars broke the Girls’ hearts when they increased the lead in the 84th minute. Mmaleako Mojapelo received a neat pass from Molatelo Sebata and blasted in a rocket.
