Young Stars and Chippas in Vhembe derby

The fight for promotion and to escape the relegation axe at the end of the season will continue among the teams affiliated to the Limpopo Stream of the Sasol Women’s League this weekend.

The Vhembe derby between Tshandama Young Stars and Chippas United Ladies will be staged at the Tshandama grounds tomorrow afternoon. It remains to be seen whether Young Stars will be able to rise to the occasion and register their first victory at the expense of Chippas.

Tshandama Young Stars are still to win a league match this season. Their most recent result was a 0-5 defeat at the hands of Shayandima Morning Stars. Chippas are one of the hot league-title contenders, while Young Stars are languishing at the bottom of the log.

Maggie Mukhuwana and Thonifho Nengovhela, the Chippas’ playmakers, will give the Stars’ defenders a headache if they are not well contained.

The Botlokwa Ladies will host Samba Girls at the Sefene School grounds in Matoks. Samba Girls will pin their hopes on Shumani Muleka, Tondani Muhovha and the team’s captain, Madembe Tshikumbu, for goals.

Sisters FC will host Maindis Ladies at the Nwamitwa grounds outside Tzaneen, and Shayandima Morning Stars will test their strength against Real Mighty Ladies at the Shayandima School grounds.

The Seshego Stadium will host the match between 50 Stars Ladies and Re Tla Dira Ladies. Just like Tshandama Young Stars, Re Tla Dira are still to win a league match this season.

The pace setters, Moria Sweepers, will undertake a journey to Seven Stars Ladies at the Mahwelereng Stadium in Mokopane and the newly promoted Skimzozo FC will host Mandebele Happy Fighters at the Lephalale open grounds.

In the final match of the weekend, University of Limpopo will host the Kanatla Ladies at the Oscar Mpheta Stadium in Turfloop.
