Teams to battle it out in the Collins Sebola tournament

 

Eight teams will battle it out in the Collins Sebola Group Youth Month 2019 tournament, organised and hosted by Mamu Community Development. The tournament will take place at the Mabaleng Sports Centre on Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 June.

The fixtures are as follows: Sinthumule Dangerous Stars vs Ravele Highlanders (09:00), Madabani Zoutpansberg Powerline v Tshiozwi Pat Mates (13:00), Madombidzha Chris United v Tshikota Chelsea (15:00), and Tshiozwi Gwazda United v Madombidzha Try Again.

“We always try our best to bring quality sports, recreation and entertainment to our people and we are glad this time around to present the tournament to the people of Vhembe,” said the general secretary of Mamu Community Development, Mr Jafter Mamugudubi.

The winners of the competition will receive R8 000, a soccer kit package, 30 gold medals, eight soccer boots, eight Mikasa soccer balls, eight shin guards, a first-aid kit, a coaching board and coaching book, captain’s armband, kit bags, finger protection gloves and a pump.

The managing director of the Collins Sebola Group, Mr Collins Sebola, said he felt it in his heart to help uplift the local communities by supporting community activities and projects such as the one that Mamu Community Development was currently doing. “We are keen to ensure that this tournament is hosted annually and to ensure that a space is created from this event to promote young boys, so that they are taken to play in national teams or sports academies,” Sebola said.

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper.
